So what’s the deal behind Toy Story 3?
We’ve heard pieces here and there. Bits of interviews can be gathered into the full story. But nothing is as concise as Total Film’s new article profiling the story behind… Toy Story 3! Of course this feature spans all the way back to Toy Story 2 (some might even say way back to Toy Story because of a similar plot line) and wraps up in the present day as Toy Story 3 production is in full steam and Randy Newman prepares the film’s score.
Luckily the threequel is safe in Pixar’s hands thanks to John Lasseter and team. Lee Unkrich and the wonderful Pixarians who are working on it right as we speak had no small part either. It’s looking like another major triumph already! Total Film’s piece reminisces on when the above may not have been true. You may remember the Disney-Pixar conflict from back in the early-to-mid 2000’s that resulted in a much needed buyout and/or Disney’s original plot to sequelize every Pixar movie without their consent.
The 8 page article chronicles every detail, starting right here, with an announcement for folks in the UK. They will have to wait until July 23rd, 2010 to see the third installment in the mega-popular franchise. Although it’s much less of a wait than usual, it’s safe to say we all anticipated a simultaneously worldwide release for our brothers and sisters across the pond.
For now, enjoy this informative and entertaining read while awaiting the toy’s return!

I just read that article earlier today. It’s definitely a good read.. I like how the people at Pixar called their movies “our children”. That tells you that they will only want the best for their films. 🙂
You’ll also find some things out that you probably didn’t know. (such as sequels to movies you know they would mess up. >.<)
I feel a bit better because when it talks about the cast for TS3 it does mention Annie Potts for Bo Peep, but part of me can’t help but feel as if the person is relying on wikipedia for that info because she isn’t listed anywhere, but wiki for the role of Bo Peep.
Just like alot of other fans I hope she’s in the movie. crosses fingers
Anyway, check out the article if you haven’t it’s pretty entertaining. 🙂
Wow, thanks for sharing this, martini. I really enjoyed the article, especially all the new TS3 screenshots. I agree with the first Anonymous; while I’m happy to hear about Annie Potts reprising the role of Bo Peep, I’m suspicious that it isn’t accurate information…
One thing that seemed wrong to me, was this:
“Apparently, Ken will have some, er, issues, related to his distinct lack of genitalia, not to mention a serious attitude problem given his time spent in his girlfriend’s more famous plastic shadow.” The first bit doesn’t sound right. Hopefully, Pixar doesn’t actually ACKNOWLEDGE it…

They say Annie Potts is confirmed back, this is false last I checked.
They also mention that there will be a Monsters Inc. sequel. Did I miss something?
I think any earth-shattering revelations from this particular article should be taken with a grain of salt.
Funny, they’ve talked about Monsters 2 a bit recently, but it comes out after Newt. What’s going on with Newt? I’m suprised there’s not been any news about it.
I wonder what happened to Bo Peep…I have been hearing false things too about if she is in the movie or not. It’s spreading like wild fire in some of the youtube toy story 3 trailer vids too. So many people are asking “Where’s Bo?”
We might have to ask lee unkrich on his twitter account. Hopefully he’ll give us answers as to what’s going on with her.
Maybe Bo’s in the movie, like watching the gang escape from out the window, and like she chases after them or something.
