Today at the D23 Expo, the talent and concept behind Pixar’s much talked about mystery projects (known only as release dates) were publicly revealed!
Pixar Movie About Dinosaurs and Pixar Movie That Takes You Inside the Mind may not be real titles, but they sure do reveal a lot about the upcoming, original projects currently brewing in the Emeryville studio. No longer must fans speculate; check out what’s behind the previously revealed schedule.
DINOSAUR PROJECT (November 27, 2013)
Directed by Bob Peterson, Co-directed by Pete Sohn
Produced by John Walker (The Incredibles)
Concept: What if the fateful meteor that killed the dinosaurs never struck Earth? This project takes us into a world where dinos and humans co-exist, explaining the intriguing concept art we saw ages ago.
INSIDE THE MIND PROJECT (May 30, 2014)
Directed by Pete Docter, Co-directed by Ronnie del Carmen
Produced by Jonas Rivera (Up)
Concept: Pete Docter’s next project explores a world that we all know, but we’ve never seen: the human mind. When I spoke to the Monsters, Inc. director earlier this year, he hinted at this ambitious project. They’re still ironing out the details, but it sounds like it could be Pixar’s Inception.
Set for the Fall of 2013 and the Summer of 2014, these original projects are sure to keep fans on the edge of their seats. As exciting as they are, we must not forget that Brave lands in theatres on June 22, 2012 and Monsters University scares its way into megaplexes everywhere on June 21, 2013.
Thoughts on the upcoming films?
Last modified: August 20, 2011
Ncuday here, can’t log in. I’m excited about these concepts and am too busy imagining how they can rock than how they could fail.
Heartwarming boy and brontosaurus flick, totally Sounds Pixar-worthy.
A flick about two completely incompatible/unable to communicate brain cells having to work together? A little Wall-e like but that’s not a bad thing. I for one can’t wait to learn more.
Also, are we beginning two a yer? If so, then YESSS!!!! Everyone’s happy, we’ll get a steady churn of originals while getting crowd pleasing sequels, too. Just please, if you want to revisit Finding Nemo, A Bug’s Life, or any others (besides the Incredibles and further delving into a post Monster’s Inc MI movie) keep it to shorts. We can all enjoy that without tainting the beloved original
Dinosaurs and humans coexisting? Sounds like the Mario Brothers Movie.
finally, some movies ideas by pixar that don’t sound like complete crap… (We all know what i’m referring to)
I’m just so happy that a Ts4 is not being made, I can sleep peacefully tonight
Yes!!!! Awesome Pixar films for the next 4 years!
The dinosaur picture caught a while ago finally makes sense now. You can see the little boy (a main character, perhaps?).
Inside the human mind makes me think of the Magic School Bus when they went inside the human body. Hard to know whether they meant physically or mentally inside the mind. Still, it’s very intriguing stuff and it sounds quite Inception-like, yes. A risky move for Pixar, but I can’t wait for more details on both of these films!

Uhm… what’s Wreck-it-Ralph? They say that’s the new pixar movie for november 2012?
MvdLaar
Wreck-it-Ralph is by Disney and is set in an 8-bit video world … clips at D23 were incredibly funny and John C. Reilly is perfectly cast.
