Animated News points out that The National Board of Review has named Cars as the “Best Animated Feature” of 2006. According to Animated News, The National Board of Review is a very reliable indicator of who will take out the “Best Animated Feature” Oscar at the Academy Awards, with the exception of The Corpse Bride last year.
And Upcoming Pixar reader, Brinke, sends the following link. It’s a Cars advent calender. For each day we are treated with either a wallpaper, sound clip or even a video clip. And if you live in the UK, you can enter to win the entire Pixar collection. It’s loads of fun to use so check it out! Thanks Brinke for the heads up.

The NBR nod is certainly a good thing for “Cars,” but so far, sadly, it is the only nod “Cars” has received. The lion’s share of critic societies have selected “Happy Feet” has this year’s best animated feature. It seems popular opinion is moving towards “Happy Feet” being the Oscar winner this year. Nothing is for sure until it happens, so I’m still holding out hope for “Cars,” in my opinion the superior film.
Interesting — I love that advent calendar, as I now have a Cars screensaver to match my obsession with the film. (snigger)
jarakmaldon: Happy Feet was, indeed, a truely spectacular and popular movie with its audiences. I, myself, quite enjoyed it; however, even though the popularity of that film is holding up with the critics, Cars still has a chance to win the trophy.
I saw Happy Feet and I also really enjoyed it. However look at last years Oscar winner. It didn’t seem to be the critics choice. They seem to have preferred Corpse Bride better.
