Can you believe it? It’s been an entire week since our last box-office post!
That can only mean one thing: There’s a lot to cover in the latest installment of Box Office Buzz. In the past week, Toy Story 3 earned a little over $10 million dollars for a domestic total of:
$389,761,491
Weekday Domestic: Toy Story 3 earnings trended upwards from Monday to Thursday with a high of $1.4 million and a low of $1.2 million. The work week brought in an estimated $5 million.
Weekend Domestic: In its 7th weekend, Toy Story 3 landed the #7 spot directly behind new releases Cats & Dogs 2 and Charlie St. Cloud. Friday and Sunday estimates of $1.5 million plus a $2 million Saturday brought the three day total to a solid $5 million.
International: This weekend, Toy Story 3 earned a little over $39 million in 48 territories overseas. Pixar’s 11th now stands at a foreign total of $436.4 million and a worldwide tally of $826 million.
Notes and Predictions: Toy Story 3 didn’t hold up as well as it did last weekend, but it’s still on the right track. We’ll be approaching $400 million in the next 10 days, and from there, who knows where this Lee Unkrich directed masterpiece will land…
Update: Actuals are in! See above.

If it can maintain an average of $10 million a week. It’d only need to stay for five more weeks to finally dethrone Shrek 2.
Unfortunately I know this won’t happen, but I would be much more satisfied with the world if Toy Story 3 held the top slot, not Shrek.
The states has to change marketing tactics like in Japan.
Tomorrow in Japan we’re getting a new heartfelt TV commercial. It’s something about holding hands. Walt Disney Japan has changed marketing tactics for TS3 many times. There were the advanced ticket sales. People were just buying TS3 tickets for its ticket design. Then, there was a World Cup soccer angle TV commercial. Then word of mouth news went wild about Totoro in TS3 and the 95.5% very high satisfaction rate which was higher than last years number one film rating. Next, the Japanese Woody and Buzz talk and interview TV commercial. All are adding up. TS3 is back to number the number two box office ticket spot after four weeks.

There were three big releases this week, two of which were direct competition with ‘TS3’. Next weekend both releases are not competition and ‘Cats and Dogs’ will plummet. ‘TS3’ will only lose 27% of its audience.
I predict in the end ‘Toy Story 3’ will make $100K more than ‘Shrek 2’
High hopes, yes; but it’s still fun to hope.
TS3 should finish around $405-410M domestically. Outgrossing Shrek 2 is improssible, as much as I would love to see that happening.
Worldwide, TS3 still has a shot at $1 billion. It’s still a long way, but it’s certainly possible.
It could ‘limp’ to $400million, but i feel it may peter out a few steps short of that finish line.
Aren’t you that guy who’s still sour that Finding Nemo was outgrossed?
Bah! Forget Shrek, I want it to outgross Ice Age! That’s the number 1 worldwide animated film. Don’t know why, but Ice Age is huge overseas.

1billion worldwide is happening. The first animated film to do so. Though it won’t break Shrek 2’s domestic animated gross, TS3 will finish around 405-410mil, which is great in its own right. Nowadays, animated films are no longer a novelty like they were back in the early 2000’s. Nowadays, it seems like you have a couple every month.
