According to Daikun from the Animation Republic, via Cartoon Brew, Brad Bird, our beloved director of The Incredibles, is now directing Ratatouille, Pixar’s film after Cars, due for release in Summer 2007.
It seems the original director of it, Jan Pinkava, who also wrote and directed the short film, Geri’s Game, has been replaced by Brad.
Cartoon Brew adds…
“While modern Disney films often times have had the original director replaced during the course of production, I believe that this is the first time a Pixar film has not had its original director see the film through completion. It obviously raises a lot of questions about what happened, but with Brad Bird directing, I think we can all be assured that the film is in good hands.”
I think we can all agree on that.
Daikun also says that they showed a small trailer for Ratatouille the Walt Disney Co.‘s shareholders’ meeting. I’m guessing, as per usual, we will get to see a teaser with the previous film to its release, being Cars.
Now hopefully we can hear some more about Ratouille. Fingers crossed.

I still think Jan Pinkava should direct Ratatouille, but Brad is an intresting choice.
I agree Bill. I think the movie would suit Jan Pinkava’s style judging by Geri’s Game. If there was a director change I would have probably more expected Pete Doctor or Andrew Stanton. Well I still can’t wait to see something from it.
I’m really sad. I love Geri’s Game, and I was very impatient to see a Jan Pinkava’s feature film. Maybe is it because of the fusion between Pixar and Disney ?
So, I’m sad, but I have to add that I’m not scared. Brad Bird is a very good director, and I know I will enjoy Ratatouille.
Luxo Jr., something has been bothering me. The Archives for December 2004 and March 2006 are missing. What happened?
hmm very interesting Bill. That is very weird. I can see them but you can’t. I wonder if anyone else can see them? What browser are you using?
I am using a Yahoo browser.
hmmm .. i have absolutely no idea. I can see them and they are there in the source code. Its very strange that you can’t.
