The Internet Movie Database via Animated News points out that on Monday, Cars earned $6,445,000, way more than the $3,802,000 that The Incredibles earned on its first Monday in November, 2004. The film also took in $5,820,000 on the Tuesday, $2,607,000 more than The Incredibles.
Although Cars earned $60.1 million on its opening weekend, compared to the $70+ million that it’s predecessors from Pixar earned, at its current rate in ticket sales, Cars could exceed the gross profits from the first week of The Incredibles. This is a monstrous effort!
Go Cars!

Awesome! It was a really good movie.
Nice Photoshopping, btw!
It was indeed. Thanks!
Very clever photo. 🙂
Lol.. yeah, good job with that!
Isn’t that The Incredibles logo on the other racercar? Another reference!
Hehe thanks everyone!
Is the Car with the Incredibles logo in that shot or in that trailer, or in the itself?
Mark told me he spotted an Apple car in one of the races.
Even if its box office exceeds The Incredibles’, I still like The Incredibles more. Cars is just a ok film.
Agreed on The Incredibles being the better film, and don’t see this as a real competition. Just glad to see that Pixar won’t have to worry about any dropoff considering this film has the legs it should. Still, I thought Cars was very good – right there with Monsters, Inc for me.
Not sure where I’m ranking Cars right now . . .
My favorites in order SO FAR:
A Bug’s Life
Monsters Inc.
The Incredibles
Finding Nemo
Toy Story 2
Toy Story
Right now I like Cars more than Nemo but trust me: It’s a close race for ALL of them!
Great news that Cars may just beat The Incredibles in the Box Office. That should shut those annoying critics who claim Cars was just a “Contractal Release.” An Oscar would definitely do some damage to those critics comfindence as well!
LOVE that pic of the Incredible Logo in the movie.
You’ve been Great Luxo Jr.!!
PS – I heard of the Apple Logo too, just haven’t seen it!
I am so pleased it is doing so well!
Although I really don’t think it came near The Incredibles in many ways, it being so successful can only be good for Pixar and that’s great great news for all lovers of great movies!
GO PIXAR!
I rank Cars right up there with The Incredibles. It bumped Monster’s Inc. out of my number 2 spot.
Potayto potahto, though. They’re all in my top seven.
The thought just occured to me: Incredibles came out in November, right in the middle of a school semester. What we need are numbers comparing Cars to Nemo. The fact is, a monday and tuesday in June are a world apart from a monday and tuesday in November.
That said, Cars was sooooo good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Take my word… Cars will win Best Animated Feature at next year’s Oscars, and if it doesn’t, I will be so angry at the voters.
Whoa, is the pic really in the movie? or did you just add that in through MS paint? ‘Cause I had no idea that was there. O_o
Well the actualy characters in the spots they are in is in the movie. I just made the car that McQueen is taking over in the pic look like an Incredibles car in photoshop.
aaaah…
Oscars is no indication of good or even great film.
It’s main function now days is a who’s who party for celebs. It has zilcho cred with Shine.
Oscar or not doesn’t change the truth (PIXAR ROCKS!)
