Mark Andrews Reveals New Brave Plot Details!

Posted by Martin • July 1, 2011

Here at Upcoming Pixar, we’ve been pleasantly surprised by the abundance of Brave tidbits coming from all directions.

The teaser trailer, film stills and concept art remind us that Brave will be a visually stunning movie, but hopefully we’re not alone in wanting to learn more about the story. In a recent interview with Scotland’s Daily Record, director Mark Andrews elaborated on the upcoming film’s plot— beware of possible spoilers:

"It’s all about the relationship between a mother and daughter, and how this young woman has problems with her mother. When she has a problem with her mother over marriage, she gets a magic spell to try to stop her mother bothering her with the suitor business. But it actually changes her mother into a bear."

Click here to read the full article from The Daily Record. It’s full of insightful quotes from Mark Andrews on everything from Scottish accents to how his honeymoon inspired the film’s research trip.

Brave opens in theaters on June 22, 2012.

Now In Theaters: Cars 2!

Brave, Cars 2

Posted by Martin • June 24, 2011

Cars 2 drives into North American theaters today!

Pixar’s 12th film, directed by John Lasseter, runs 113 minutes. Experiencing mixed reviews from the get-go, Cars 2 is Pixar’s first film to be branded Rotten on Rotten Tomatoes.

I’m calling foul on many of the reviews bashing Cars 2 in comparison to some of Pixar’s past features, but I’ve already had my chance to share my thoughts. The film that’s on everybody’s mind, whether positively or negatively, is now available for your judgment. Feel free to share your Cars 2 reviews in the comments section.

Don’t forget to arrive early to the film. A brand new Toy Story Toons short film, Hawaiian Vacation, is attached. Digital 3D versions of the film also include the Brave trailer and a sneak-peek at The Lion King in 3D.

First Look: Rendered Brave Image!

Brave, The Bear and The Bow (Brave)

Posted by Martin • May 27, 2011

Here’s our first look at a rendered image from Brave featuring none other than the film’s lead, Princess Merida.

Riding on her steed with a bow and arrow in hand, the still is just as magnificent as we had imaged! Animatie, a Dutch animation fansite, leaked the image recently.

Pixar’s 13th feature is set to open in just over a year, but the official trailer rolls this summer with Cars 2. Presumably, the image you see to the right comes from the upcoming teaser. Chances are we’ll get to see it (and maybe a couple of higher quality shots) even before the release of Cars 2, so look out!

Brave opens in theatres on June 22, 2012.
