No i’m not talking about chocolate easter eggs if that is what you are thinking. I am talking about DVD easter eggs. And to be specific, easter eggs on The Incredibles 2-Disc Collectors Edition DVD, which can be bought at Amazon here for NTSC viewers or at EzyDVD.com here.
In case you don’t know what an easter egg is, I shall tell you. An easter egg is a hidden feature, picture, or sound clip found in nearly all pieces of software. Easter eggs can be a hidden mini game, a funny picture of the development crew, or simply a programmer’s name. Easter eggs are also found in DVD movies, so look out for them in the menus.
Now if you haven’t found them already, here are some easter eggs from The Incredibles DVD thanks to Movie Mistakes.
- This is on the Bonus/Feature DVD of 2-DVD set. Go to Behind the Scenes. Click on Publicity. An Omnidroid silhouette appears near the end of the menu’s animation loop. When the silhouette appears, move the cursor right to highlight it and then click enter. A short clip will play that shows Dash & Mr Incredible competing for a TV remote. When that ends, if you click on the silhouette again, a different short clip of Mr Incredible & Frozone appears.
- On the Disc Two, from the Main Menu go to “Deleted Scenes.” Then a little omnidriod shape will appear at the top right hand corner of the screen on the top green bar, near the end of the menu’s animation loop. Go up and highlight it to view a deleted scene about Dash putting signs on the back of his suspicious school teacher.
- On the Bonus/Feature DVD of 2-DVD set. Go to Behind the Scenes. Go to More Making of the Incredibles. An Omnidroid silhouette appears near the end of the menu’s animation loop. When the silhouette appears, move the cursor right to highlight it and then click enter. A short clip will show variations of Dash on the velocipod. When it finishes, if you click on the silhouette again, you get a different short clip of variations of Mr Incredible throwing the coconut.
- On the Bonus/Feature DVD of 2-DVD set. Go to Index. Go to Next Page. An Omnidroid silhouette appears near the end of the menu’s animation loop. When the silhouette appears, move the cursor right to highlight it and then click enter. A very short “behind the scenes” clip will play.
- On the Bonus/Feature DVD of 2-DVD set. Go to Index. An Omnidroid silhouette appears near the end of the menu’s animation loop. When the silhouette appears, move the cursor right to highlight it and then click enter. A short clip on Mr Incredible eating the cake appears.
- On the Bonus/Feature DVD of 2-DVD set. Go to Behind the Scenes. An Omnidroid silhouette appears near the end of the menu’s animation loop. When the silhouette appears, move the cursor right to highlight it and then click enter. A short film on Frank Thomas & Ollie Johnston (great early Disney animators) will play. When it ends, if you click on the silhouette again, a different short “behinds the scenes” clip called “Markisms” will appear.
- On the Bonus/Feature DVD of 2-DVD set. On the main menu, an Omnidroid silhouette appears near the end of the menu’s animation loop. When the silhouette appears, move the cursor right to highlight it and then click enter. A short clip featuring an homage to buttons & doors in The Incredibles will play.
- On the Bonus/Feature DVD of 2-DVD set. Go to Setup. An Omnidroid silhouette appears near the end of the menu’s animation loop. When the silhouette appears, move the cursor right to highlight it and then click enter. A short film will appear of The Incredibles done with sock puppets.
- On disk 1, go to commentaries, and wait for a Mr. Incredible figure to appear, select it and there will be a short clip of Mr. I dancing.
- On the index (first page) of disk 2, select the omnidroid figure when it appears and you will see this small video about a man eating a cake. Select the omnidroid again and there will be a sock puppet version of the Incredibles.
- On the special features DVD, on the main menu if you wait through the animation loop an omnidrod will appear in the top right hand corner. Click on that and you’ll see a montage by the directer Brad Bird.
So there you go, there are some easter eggs for you to look for on your Incredibles DVD.
