Yahoo! Movies via Animated News has an article on end credits in movies and how movie-makers are actually making them a bit more creative. One of the movies discussed is Ratatouille. On making the credits, the article says…
One reason Pixar went with the 2-D credits was practicality. Bird came into the project so late in the process that all computer resources were diverted to making the main movie.
“We certainly didn’t have any more bandwidth to do 3-D,” producer Brad Lewis says. “We were maxed out. So that was probably a factor.”
The article also mentions how Pixar used it’s own 2D trained artists to create the credits. One was even glad to have paper cuts again!
Have a read. It’s also interesting to read about other films that have been making their credits more exciting for the viewer.

Even the songs for most Pixar movies’ credits are unique and interesting. Instead of simply having a medley of songs from the movie, or a song from some popular band, there’s always something new and interesting during the credits.
I love interesting credits, though – I feel like I’m getting more money for my ticket when it’s actually fun to watch the last 10 minutes of the movie (after ‘The End’).
