I’m ba-ack!! It’s Martin again and I’ve been away from a computer for a few days but I’m glad to be posting again. Thanks, Thomas for staying on top of all the Toy Story 3 news while I was gone.
Ok, so you’ve probably watched the new Toy Story 3 trailer a million times by now. But have you seen the international trailer yet? Check it out below and try to figure out what’s been added or removed from the US trailer:
Here’s the cheat sheet: The scene where Ken, Lotso and gang of other new toys seem to be conspiring has been extended. Ken definitely has one of the funniest lines there. Notably, Andy’s heart warming monologue about Woody has been removed, possibly for time as the trailer runs for almost 2 minutes and a half. Mr. Potato Head’s rough night has also been cut.
So what did you think of the additions to the final full Toy Story 3 trailer?

Andy’s monologue seemed a bit too soppy for a 2 and a half minute trailer, so I’m not sad to see it replaced with a funny bit from Ken. I do miss the creepy/comic stuff with Mr Potato Head and that nasty Baby doll though! BTW if you go to the character section of the Toy Story 3 site it tells you when the next 8 characters will be revealed – the next one is on the 18th of Feb.
I loved this trailer! Better than the first, in my opinion. I agree that the Andy line probably needs to be in the context of the whole film to be good. I definitely prefer this trailer!
The trailer in Spanish for Latin America is a little bit different too. it’s shorter, has the extended scene of Ken and bits I haven’t seen before, as when the Green Army Men jump trough a window with parachutes, the same of the first one I think, and a tiny bit with a truck at the end of the trailer. Watch it here.

wow this may be better then the first two!! I know…blasphemy, right? anyway we also get our first glimpse of whoopie goldbergs character. I didn’t recognize her voice until the third viewing. Pixar is always so good about finding the suitable voice for their characters.
Apparently, the international market has better class than to be placated with a joke regarding ‘lincoln logs.’
Though I did miss Andy’s speech. That is one of my favorite parts of the US trailer. They timed the music and everything just right.
I think the Lincoln Log joke has been dropped from the international trailers because Lincoln Logs are an American toy and the rest of the world hasn’t heard of them. I’m from the UK and hadn’t heard of Lincoln Logs before – it was obviously something brown and loggy, but my first guess was some kind of mini chocolate roll snack!
so is whoopi goldberg the squid?
Anonymous #6- The Purple Octopus is in fact played by Whoopi Goldberg although we still haven’t heard the character’s official name. 🙂
