Entertainment Weekly has revealed the first images and information detailing Partysaurus Rex, the latest Toy Story Toon set to debut before Finding Nemo 3D.
The Rex-centric short follows the dinosaur as he’s taken to bathtime by Bonnie, where he helps rejuvenate the lives of his fellow bath toys through a vivacious bubble bath party. Techno artist BT, who will provide music for the short, describes it as "quite literally, a Toy Story rave". Director Mark Walsh explains the heart of the story: "What I was going for was, you move to a new town and make new friends, and suddenly you think you have this chance where you can reinvent yourself."
The concept of Rex having a chance to change his neurotic image sounds ripe for comedy, and the tonal shift seems refreshing following the cute, but somewhat mechanical Small Fry. Not to mention the Pixar crew likely had their work cut out for them with the water simulation in this one.
Once again, Partysaurus Rex will be screened before Finding Nemo in 3D on September 14.
