Growing up as Andy Davis is just part of John Morris‘ life.
As you’re probably aware, the 25 year old is reprising his famous childhood role in Toy Story 3! But it’s been over 10 years since the sequel to Pixar’s first franchise landed in theatres, so what’s he been up to all this time?
BackStage spoke to Morris about how he got the role of Andy at age 7 and what his life has been like ever since. It’s a simple story, after obtaining a degree from UCLA, the young actor was ready to re-open the toy box. "That was what got me really excited: that the story was going to continue."
Morris remembers that fateful day when he charmed Disney and Pixar with his favorite toys at the open casting call for Toy Story. Even though the last time he performed the role of Buzz and Woody’s owner was during his early teens, he hasn’t lost his touch and continues to make an impression. It’s no wonder since he’s had quite a few roles in theatre since then.
In the highly anticipated sequel he’s as believable as ever. After all, his true passion seems to be performing. But the best part is that his iconic character has noticeably evolved, as I’m sure Morris has as an actor.
Read the full interview over at BackStage, you might be surprised to see who Morris’ favorite actor is. Hint, he’s a Pixar favorite. For more from "Andy" himself, follow @john_morris on Twitter.

That’s kind of a weird interview. It just kinda ends. I thought there would be more. Oh well, good for him, it sounds like he’s doing what he really loves!
Agreed, they could have at least thrown in a “thank you for for the interview” or something. I kept looking for the next page only to realise that was it.
Golly, wasn’t expecting comments against the interview… on here. Considering we didn’t conduct the interview, what’s the point of complaining here? What DID you guys like about the interview, anyway?
Nobody’s blaming you, just thinking out loud really.
I was surprised to learn to he’s involved in theater, and sings.
The part about bringing a whole box of toys to the audition made me laugh.
The interview was fine, was just expecting something longer than a few tweets is all.
Interesting interview. Like Kyle, I also love how he brought in a bundle of toys instead of just one to play with — he was thinking logically! 🙂
My only qualm is that I wish the interview could have been a bit longer. We don’t get to hear much about these “side-line” actors, so when a discussion with them does pop up I prefer it to be an extended one. Of course, this isn’t the fault of Upcoming Pixar at all, so I’m not going to blame you guys.
That aside, thank you very much for providing the link to this interview, Martin! I enjoyed reading it!
