Upon reading a post at the Pixar Planet forums and reading that Pixar’s next short film is called Lifted and is about an alien, I decided to research into it to see if I could find out any more credible information to support the existance of this short film.
I stumbled upon this site first. They gave me the following information…
Lifted
2006 | 5 Minutes
Color | 35mmDistributor: Pixar Animation Studios
Film Summary
Animated Short. A bumbling young alien student from a distant world tests the patience of an increasingly weary instructor as he attempts a first-time abduction of a innocently slumbering farmer in Lifted, the comical latest short film from Pixar Animation Studios.
I searched furthur and found that Lifted will be showing at The 42nd Chicago International Film Festival. I also found the above image. They stated the following information…
PIXAR: An Afternoon With Gary Rydstrom
Pixar Animation Studios director Gary Rydstrom hosts a rare theatrical screening of four acclaimed Pixar shorts—culminating in a “makingof” presentation and sneak peek of Lifted, Rydstrom’s first animated short film for the studio. Rydstrom, a seven-time Academy Awardwinning sound editor and mixer, will follow the screenings with a seminar providing insight into his work and discuss his recent transition from sound designer to animation film director.

WOOT!
A scoop indeed!
Nice find!
I’m glad I’ve got your site to warn me if any LA screenings get scheduled. In the past, I’ve always heard about them about a week too late.
Only one month until Pixar day at the Screenwriting Expo! I’m so stoked. Got my tickets to that nice and early, also thanks to you….
So is this the rumored sci-fi project PIXAR has been working on and not W.A.L.-E ?
Gary Rydstrom as director. It fits nicely. He’s always been a sound designer for PIXAR and now we finally get to see him move up the ranks.
Wowie! Pixar finally decided to move to the extraterrestrial side of the universe.
Heheh — it sounds (and looks) promising. Keep us updated….
I can’t wait to see it!
Dave — Awesome! Try and get some photos if you can.
Bill — Sounds like it. I have lots of faith in Gary.
Mitch — Will do.
JV — Same here!
While some people have always been speculative about the sucess of PIXAR films, I think it’s pretty easy to say that PIXAR has never gotten worse when it comes to their shorts. Each and every successor of the last film has always been regarded as a success!!
Can’t wait for Lifted!!!
I’m seeing if I can go. I’ve got the information, and wer’e planning it, but so far I don’t know…
swwweeeet
p.s. who likes my picture ? I got it from pixar.com . u kno u like it
Luxo Jr. I love how you made the new “Upcoming Pixar” logos I especially like the Ratatouille one.
