All I really care about is a sequel to The Incredibles. I am an avid superhero fan, and Brad Bird’s film was fantastic. I’d love to see how the kids grow into their powers, more character development of the Underminer, and maybe the unused villain they planned before Syndrome. Now that would be worthy of the sequel treatment. Cars is better left as a stand-alone tale. No other Pixar film would merit a sequel, not even Toy Story IMO. They are all better as one-of-kind wonders, untainted and unique.
I would LOVE a Cars sequel. Cars was an incredible Pixar movie and deserves a sequel, but I really hope this rumour stops being milked.. it’s making me too darn excited and I don’t want to get my hopes too high. But hey, if Cars won’t have a sequel, I’m fine with that… let Pixar continue to give us new stories. 🙂
I am one of the ones that are put at ease by this! 🙂 I loved Cars, but I just don’t see a sequel coming out of it. As in, I didn’t see any problem to be fixed and etc. I thought the movie had a satisfying ending, and I don’t think there’s a need to make a sequel. To me, it’s probably one of PIXAR’s more “completed” (or whatever, you get the point) movies.
Although, if there were to be a Cars 2 sequel theatrically released and everything, then I would watch it. But I think they should spend their time making new features (and maybe a couple sequels sprinkled in, over time, to movies that had endings that could lead to a sequel. ie Monsters, Inc, The Incredibles…).

I would not mind any sequel if they stick to the Toy Story 2 game plan. That is, start working on a story for in home release or presentation on the Disney Channel. As it develops and the work progresses, it can be assessed to see if the market should be raised to the level of a theatrical release. If not, we still have a fan satisfying production without the box office hype of under performance.
i’d be disappointed if pixar produced a sequel to ‘cars’. i think pixar’s creative talent is best spent producing original stand-alone features.

That jvpixar thing is a RUMOR, not a confirmation.
If it were truly confirmed, it will be a named source from Disney, Pixar or someone associated with the film.
Until I hear otherwise, I have my doubts.
Car sequel? Well here’s my two bits on what a car sequel plot COULD be like.
Setting: A different town, a different character; probably Formula One, since it’s so big right now; and therefore probably set in Brazil or Italy.
Losing is not an option
Plot: Inspired by friendship, a lazy car grows in confidence, gains enthusiasm of life, and starts to try hard to win.
We find a lazy car, Seed, not willing to work hard to match up to speed of the circuit, and so is usually used as a crash car (test driving) for road safety. (basically he is beat up). Seed’s friends are frustrated with him, because they think he could be fast. But no one really knows how fast except the garage owner who helped build the car; Seed was built in his garage; he knows he was built for speed, but because of a personal loss, the garage owner has not unleashed Seed’s true potential.
Along comes the Formula One championship, and a terrible crash where one of his best friends is involved, to one of the teams forces Seed to enrol. And he’s asked to perform; but basically because he’s lazy, he doesn’t mind coming last, again and again.
Until finally, he meets a small car, the son of the friend in the crash, who looks up to him. And this small car inspires him to try harder and unleash his true potential.
