Today marks the anniversary of Pixar going public, on November 29th, 1995.
Steve Jobs negotiated a 3-film deal with Disney, however he knew he didn’t want to stay under the thumb of Disney forever. He decided to make Pixar go public, coinciding with the release of Toy Story.
At the beginning of the day on November 29, 1995, the shares priced at $22, and on closing of the day, they were $39. Steve Jobs started a millionaire, and left a billionaire.
