Pixar at fmx/09 Conference!

News Pixar RenderMan

Want to work for Pixar? The world renound studio will be teaching RenderMan and hiring people in the industry at the upcoming CGI convention fmx/09!

The 14th Annual Conference on Animation, Effects, Games and Digital Media is being held from May 5 to May 8th in Stuttgart, Germany. If you’re in the area, don’t hesitate to go because Pixar will be a big presence there.

Their first presentation, Pixar’s RenderMan: Creating the Impossible, includes "guest speakers from Pixar Animation Studios… [who will] talk about the making-of Pixar’s feature films with a behind-the-scenes look at Pixar’s production techniques." The main focus, of course is RenderMan, Pixar’s proprietary rendering software and the industry standard. Presenters will be announced soon on Pixar’s website, you can catch it on these dates: Wednesday, May 6th and Thursday May 7th, times and location on website.

Interested in getting a job at Pixar (who isn’t?), then you’re in luck! Pixar’s Senior Recruiter for Technical jobs, Robin McDonald, will be on hand to seek out potential employees. In the Pixar Career Gears presentation, you can also talk to Technical Directors and see if you have what it takes! This event will take place on the same days as the RenderMan expo but at different times, which are listed on the site.

Learn more at the fmx/09 official website and keep an eye on Pixar’s Jobs website for guest speakers and such.

(Thanks, Mitch!)
