Michael Sporn’s Blog via Cartoon Brew points out that among the cool things to see at the Pixar: 20 Years of Animation exhibit opening this week at MoMA is a giant 19th century-style zoetrope with Toy Story characters in it.
He says….
“Small 3D statues of the Toy Story characters will be placed in a zoetrope. When spun, they will come to life. Sounds creepy but interesting. Why aren’t more studios as imaginative as the Pixar people?”
Cartoon Brew adds about what Pete Doctor says about them…
“When it’s working, you’d swear you can reach out and shake hands with these guys who are coming to life right in front of you.”
You can read more about the zoetropes that Pixar are showing at the exhibit and some information on the history of zoetropes in this NY Times article.
