I’m not too fond of the cover either, but then again, most of Pixar’s other movie covers (with the exception of Nemo) weren’t extremely ‘exciting’ (eye-catching). Disney must be experimenting.
I’ll probably buy this one on DVD initially, then again in a couple of years if they get a 2-disc.
This is old news.
I’m still going to buy the DVD.
Exactly my thoughts…The cover sucks…and so does this barebone release! I didn’t buy car either and I’m still in a state of confusion over this one. Think I won’t pick it up…This has to be the biggest disappointing release of the year!
I didn’t buy Cars DVD as I was also waiting for a 2 disc release. But Ratatouille is so good! I think I can’t wait to own it! So, I think, I’ll most likely buy it, despite it being a one-disc release!
I hate the Walt Disney Company. They are an evil empire trying to scam everyone out of their money. But in the meantime, I love Pixar! TOTALLY! The cover looks like a kid’s movie, which it definitely is not. Remember that line? “Welcome to h***.” NOT A KID’S MOVIE, DISNEY!!! Anyway, I’m still going to buy the DVD.
Can’t wait to buy the DVD – not having the director’s commentary is a disappointment though.. Would be really nice to have both Bird and Pinkava sit down together, for a change, and tell how the story originated, how it was reshaped, what animation leads did different parts, what the challenges were, etc. I’ll miss that my friends.
Any reason why there will be no filmmakers’ commentary? One would expect it to be a standard on a DVD release, especially a Pixar DVD release. How disappointing.
I first saw the French trailer and fell in love with it, despite knowing little French. It just rang true.
Then I saw the American trailer, and was very disappointed.
I still have not seen the film, but I am going to import a version of the DVD with a French language track and watch it with English subtitles.
I just hope it’s good. Cars was a very ordinary film, by Pixar’s standards.
I’m still definately going to purchase it, yes, but if Pixar ever released a 2-disc for Cars and Ratatouille I’m definately investing in those too. It does sort of break my heart on how these great films (Ratatouille especially) are receiving such horrible releases.
Oh well, I kind of like the cover design better than I did Cars…
Yeah, I don’t really like the cover either.
And I don’t buy DVDs often, so I will definitely wait until they come out with a 2-disk edition!!
I can always rent it or check it out at the library 🙂
Disney must surely love people who despise their marketing strategies so much that they’ll not only buy a skimpy one-disc release but shell out again if and when a full two-disc set is released.
If we really want to send a message we should refuse to buy or at least hold off purchase until it’s on the discount shelves. Fans shouldn’t be treated as cash cows.
Even Monster House and Barnyard DVDs have commentaries!
