Click here to read about the source of inspiration for a scene in Ratatouille as not to spoil some of the movie for those who haven’t seen it yet.
Bloomberg News via The Seattle Times has a story about the rat trap store in Paris that has been made a star by Ratatouille because of it’s famous dead rats that hang in the window.
The animated film and Rémy have made Aurouze, the real-life rat-trap shop in central Paris featured in the film, something of a tourist attraction.
says the article. The store is now run by Cécile and Julien Aurouze, whose grandfather started the business in 1872. The rats in the window have been there since 1925 says the article. However the owners don’t expect any more business despite the movie bringing curious tourists for a visit. “You come to us because you need to,” says Cécile, “not because you want to.”
Interesting article. Have a read. Thanks Bonnie for the heads up.
I wanna know how often they change the rats in the window [if they are real] and where they source them from! =)
