Randolph (Randy) Frederick Pausch, born October 23, 1960 has sadly passed on today. Randy was an American professor of computer science, human-computer interaction and design at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, most recently famous for The Last Lecture speech.
RIP Randy Pausch (1960-2008)
Randy’s work had some cross-over to Pixar with virtual-reality and animation software. Some of Randy’s classes at CMU had the privilege to tour Pixar as a group where they learnt a great deal and were inspired by the folks at Pixar.
Randy was 47.

I remember seeing him and his Last Lecture on Oprah… Some very thought-provoking messages in that speech. I didn’t realise his work was related to Pixar, though.
RIP Randy. =(
damn. that last lecture is one of the most inspiring things ive ever watched.
The most fitting way to remember him is to do something great and meaningful with our lives, and maybe one day be as inspirational as he was.
A tragic story. He was a truly inspirational man who was taken from us too early.
I would have loved to shake his hand. His last lecture is one of the most inspiring things I’ve ever watched, and his contributions to virtual reality and 3D is unsurpassed.
RIP
Sad, but that lesson is inspirational.
He’ll live on through that message and the lives that he’s touched. They certainly are numerous.
