Upcoming Pixar reader Bill points out that Wikipedia.org’s Ratatouille page has a new cast for Pixar’s 2007 film.
The cast line up has some HUGE names, as well as having reasonable and easy to remember character names.
The lineup is as follows….
* Brad Garrett as Chef Chazz
* Johnny Depp as Ratatouille
* Russell Allman as Snive
* Christopher Lee as Pat
* Keanu Reeves as Garr
* Anna Paquin as Linna
* Christopher Walken as Winston
* Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Exterminator
* John Ratzenberger
Pretty interesting eh? However I thought the Terminator had retired from acting when he became the Governator.
What do you all think?
Update: The page at Wikipedia no longer has a cast list however it does state this…
Ratatouille is a rat who lives in the sewers near a fancy uptown and upscale restaurant run by a famous but eccentric French chef, Chaz Morinto. This rat fancies himself a gourmand, but his father tells him he should grow up and learn to eat garbage like other rats. When Ratatouille is caught in the restaurant one night, he endangers every rat in the sewer when The Exterminator is called.
Also, Upcoming Pixar reader Billy points out this article. At the end of the article John Lasseter says this about Ratatouille…
Ratatouille is the only other upcoming Pixar film Lasseter will talk about: no, it’s not about eggplants and tomatoes.
“It is the most extreme fish-out-of-water story ever imagined,” says Lasseter with some hyperbole. “It is about a rat that wants to be a fine chef in a top French restaurant in Paris. It is a wonderful story about following your passions when all the world is against you. A rat to a kitchen is death; a kitchen to a rat is death.”
So there you have it. Straight from the horses mouth.

Wow ! If that’s true, it’s just amazing ! Thanks for the info !
If they update it, I’ll let you guys know. Johnny would be in my opinion, perfect as Ratatouille. I’m a big fan of his, and can’t wait foe Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man’s Chest this summer. If this is true, it will be his second voice role. The first being the voice of Victor Van Dort in Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride.
Uh, that’s hysterical. Don’t believe everything you hear. 😉
PIXAR knows what its doing . . . if these are the actors they chose (and only Ratzenburger & Garret are confirmed, right?) then I bet things will be great.
I guess we’ll have to just wait and see for the official news!
Thanks for news Bill & Luxo Jr.!
How could Arnie turn down a role like that! Made just for him I can tell heheheheh
I’ve just noticed…almost every role Schwarzenegger is in, his character’s name ends with “-nator”. And, they finally have names that you can actually pronounce! WHOO-HOO! =D
Oh yeah, our grandma got us two cool Cars things. One is a plate made to look like a steering wheel. One-third is Lightning, one-third is Mater, and one-third is Doc Hudson. It looks awesome. Also, we got this thing my sister calls a “travel pantry” which has pictures of Lightning on it. On the top, there’s a place where you can put a drink in (when I first got mine, I put in some of my grandma’s chocolate milk. it tastes good!) and what makes it so cool is the bottom. You can store snacks in the bottom!! My grandma was originally gonna get my sister a Care Bears one, but she thought she was too old for them and got her one of those instead. *pant pant* Dang, that was a mouthful…
And, you forgot to add who Anna Paquin plays. She plays Linna.
When I took a look at the history of the “Ratatouille” article in Wikipedia (by pressing the tab on the top-left side of the article), I noticed that the same user (whose IP is shown) who incorporated all those names added an additional information in the article indicating that the film is rated PG. Honestly, I don’t know exactly when the MPAA releases its ratings, but isn’t it a tad too early for a 2007 film to be rated? This discovery really makes me suspicious as to whether this information is valid or not…
I found this quote by John Lasseter in an article (SOURCE: http://www.sundaytimes.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,7034,19310966%255E10431,00.html):
“[Ratatouille] is about a rat that wants to be a fine chef in a top French restaurant in Paris. It is a wonderful story about following your passions when all the world is against you. A rat to a kitchen is death; a kitchen to a rat is death.”
I know the quotation really isn’t saying much, but do you think this matches the Wikipedia entry to some degree?
When I first saw the rumoured plot in Wikipedia, I thought that it had too much of a resemblance with “A Bug’s Life” (i.e., a group of ants are in danger because of a single character, but this time, they’re rats). In second thought, though, I realized that the story was quite unique, since it is likely to have a different theme and lesson, and exterminators really aren’t aware of what the rats feel or think (the grasshoppers in A Bug’s Life were aware of the ants’ thoughts and feelings to a much greater degree)
It’s going to be great. If Lassater is THAT confident about the movie, then I know it’ll be!
Okay, I don’t know what the heck is going on over at Wikipedia, but someone recently changed the name of the lead rat from Ratatouille to “Remy”.
If you look at the history page, someone with a different IP did the editing.
I’m not trusting a whole lot from Wikiepdia at the moment. All this is rather shifty.
Anyway, on a lighter note, I am going to see Cars on June 04 (June 03 america time). Man I am excited. I promise you all a review.
How’d you wrangle that, Luxo Jr.??
Have fun!!
You guys are all way off!!! I know the truth, but I won’t ruin it for you! Lets just say, Johnny Depp is not in this movie!
Luxo Jr., the cast list is back up with two new additions… John Lithgow and Joan Cusack.
Well I can almost pretty much gurantee that Johnny Depp is not Ratatouille therefore I don’t see him in the film at all. And if the person put Johnny Depp with all those others, I can imagine the others won’t be there either.
In that case, the given plot is probably wrong as well.
Patton Oswalt is Remy (at least in the trailer). And Brad is a lock according to ImDb. I’m sure Ratzenburger is a lock, but he isn’t listed yet, but the last 7 movies and a credit clip dedicated to him? My money’s on lock. As for the rest, who knows yet.
