The new Onward trailer tells all and makes us dissolve in laughter and tears

Onward, Trailer

Posted by Simoa • October 10, 2019

Every time I’ve gone to the movies this year, I’ve seen the same preview for Onward, and so has everyone. I could practically recite it by heart. I wondered when we would get new footage and if it would ever play in front of whatever animated movie was screened before the year was out. Well now the newest trailer has officially debuted! And it’s one of the best from Pixar in recent years.

This trailer reveals quite a lot of plot! That’s a first for our favorite animation studio. For the first time, I don’t need to speculate about what’s going on, nor am I left guessing. This can only mean that even bigger surprises are being kept under wraps.

A narrator explains what we already know, namely that this new world once had magic and doesn’t anymore. It is still inhabited by mythological creatures, but they’re just like you and me. It resembles our world a little bit, but it feels like it even more.

Inside and out, the world of Onward looks beautifully fleshed out – familiar and fantastical all at once.

Ian and Barley Lightfoot, in another Pixar first, are siblings who embark on a quest. That’s par for the course in fantasy fare, but this is unlike any other quest you’ve journeyed on with your favorite characters in movies and books. On this quest, they are going to find the rest of their father. They use a wizard staff, gifted to Ian on his birthday by their dad, to bring him back, but only his bottom half! The trailer features one touching moment, that it seems only Pixar could do. Just the tap of a foot and I was reduced to tears.

Anyone who loves Monsters University like I do can see director Dan Scanlon’s distinct MO, which brilliantly blends hilarity with heartbreak. There’s so much going on in the trailer; snarling monsters and unicorns; colorful explosions; car chases; and fire. But it’s edited so well that none of it overwhelms.

Whatever excitement I had for this movie has just had a growth spell put on it. It’s huge!

Onward cometh soon, on March 6th, 2020.

Toy Story 4 UK Trailer ‘Freedom’ – New Footage, New Lines, and more!

Toy Story 4, Trailer

Posted by Joanna • March 27, 2019

Pixar’s trailers often differ slightly between regions, and the newly released Toy Story 4 UK trailer is no exception. Watch below:

A lot of the trailer is familiar territory, but we see some new footage which really boasts the film’s beautiful lighting and scenery. Bonnie is looking cuter than ever, the close-up and distant shots are all equally stunning, and the old crew of toys are just as lovable as always.

At the moment, we don’t know a whole lot about Forky. He’s an art project of sorts, made by Bonnie at school, but aside from him not really wanting to be a toy, not much of his personality has been revealed. Perhaps this is shaping up to be a little like the Bing-Bong situation when Inside Out was coming out: we didn’t know much about him to begin with. All we knew was that he looked a little ridiculous, being a creation from a child’s imagination. But with Inside Out‘s release, Bing-Bong went from being a silly side character to one of the most loved and mourned characters in Pixar’s history. Will this be Forky’s fate too? We won’t have to wait long to find out now! Toy Story 4 is in theatres June 21st.

New Toy Story 4 Trailer Set To Release Tomorrow

Toy Story 4, Trailer

Posted by Joanna • March 18, 2019

Good Morning America have revealed that a new Toy Story 4 trailer is going to be released tomorrow, presumably on their regularly scheduled morning air time.

This trailer news comes amidst a whole load of merchandise character reveals. Funko Pop have just shared their upcoming series of Toy Story figurines, and the DisInsider has provided us with a photo.

Here you can see some new characters that we’re already aware of: Ducky and Bunny, Forky, and we’re familiar with Combat Carl plus Combat Carl Jr. from “Toy Story Of Terror”. But who are Officer Giggle McDimples (?!), Gabby Gabby, and Duke Caboom? Those of you that are particularly observant may recognise Duke Caboom – he appeared as an easter egg in Incredibles 2 when we saw Jack-Jack in a crib with a suspicious-looking doll.

Look to the left of Jack-Jack!

With a trailer less than 24 hours away, we can only hope that a lot of our burning questions will be answered!

New Incredibles 2 Footage!

Incredibles 2, Trailer

Posted by Joanna • April 30, 2018

Pixar have sneakily been teasing more Incredibles 2 footage, and you may have missed it.

International trailers often contain different clips to appeal to different audiences, and this new Japanese Incredibles 2 trailer is no different. These international trailers can sometimes be a little more prone to containing things that could be considered spoilers, so tread carefully, but as someone who is usually very wary of spoilers, I wouldn’t consider this to be spoiler-heavy at all. Watch below:

Known as Incredible Family (インクレディブル ファミリー) in Japan, the new Incredibles 2 trailer focuses more on the individual family members, giving each of them a brief introduction and showcasing some of their heroic moments that we can look forward to seeing on the big screen this summer. There’s also more action-packed footage of the Underminer battle that presumably is the opening of the sequel.

From the latest US trailer, it’s already been established that Violet might be ‘having adolescence’, but this trailer goes even deeper and shows off some more of her amazingly exaggerated moody expressions.

Super siblings with attitude.

We also get to see Jack Jack being (perhaps deceivingly) very sweet, pointing to his mom when he sees her on the TV.

Loving how they’re reusing that old footage that played at the start of The Incredibles!

And what’s this?! Is this that raccoon we’ve been hearing so much about?

The raccoon character has already been teased in posters, concept art, and way back at D23.

All those new Elastigirl action scenes are definitely a welcome sight too.

The Japanese roughly translates to ‘human rubber mom – Helen’.

A Japanese Incredibles 2 poster has also been released. It seems like Jack Jack being adorable is playing quite a large role in their marketing strategy!

Stay tuned for more Incredibles 2 news – it’s sure to keep coming as the release date approaches! The US release date is June 15th.
