The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) announced its nominations for the Golden Globe Awards early this morning!
Toy Story 3 is set to compete in just one category — Best Animated Feature -– during the 68th annual event. Much like last year, studios have been stepping up their game, so Pixar faces some formidable competition.
"Best Animated" nominations are as follows:
Despicable Me — Universal Pictures
How To Train Your Dragon — DreamWorks Animation
The Illusionist — Sony Pictures Classics
Tangled — Walt Disney Animation Studios
Toy Story 3 — Disney/Pixar

The 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony, presented by the HFPA, is set to be televised on Sunday, January 16th, 2011.
Congratulations, Lee Unkrich and co.!

Ouch, that hurts. No nomination for original score? Original song? Screenplay? Movies like Alice in Wonderland and Burlesque get more nominations than Toy Story 3? No matter how you look at it, this is a huge disappointment.
Agreed— but there’s always the Oscars. 🙂
Well, lots of nominations doesn’t mean a movie is going to win anyways. There have been movies in the past that had multiple nominations and won zilch.
Though I’m pretty sure TS3 is a lock for Animated Feature.
The “Burlesque” nomination just feels like someone just wanted to throw that into the ‘Musical/Comedy’ category since there weren’t many musicals this year.
The Golden Globes are frankly, stupid. The Tourist, a critically panned movie, is nominated for best picture while True Grit, an acclaimed movie getting lots of Oscar buzz, gets no nominations? The only movie in the best picture comedy category that’s even GOOD is The Kids Are All Right. Just ignore the Golden Globes. And Toy Story 3 is likely to get a lot of noms at the Oscars, including best picture.
Anyone who thinks the Annies and Thierry cockeyed voting procedures was lame would be shocked at how ridiculous the golden globes are “voted” for. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is a fraud, and the golden globes are worthless.
