Entering the world of Toy Story 3: The Video Game feels completely genuine.
On the day following my screening of Lee Unkrich’s latest masterpiece, I was able to sit down for a good moment to play the upcoming Avalanche Software title. Now, I’m not a huge fan of movie based games, but TS3 blows everything else out of the water!
I attribute the playability and fun of Toy Story 3: The Video Game to its expansive Toy Box mode, where anything is possible, really. But who better to explain this feature than the developers themselves? Check out this great video.
Previous interactives based on the studio’s films were developed by outside companies, but this time, internal Disney development opened up more possibilities than ever before. Of course, this makes for a true Toy Story experience. Below are some key Pixarians chatting about the collaboration:
I’m quite excited to possibly review this for you guys in the coming weeks. Since industry writers got to experience the game yesterday at Pixar, enjoy thoughts and a recap from CNET for now.
Toy Story 3: The Video Game debuts on all consoles on June 15th, 2010. It was recently announced that only the PS3 version features a playable Zurg.

I do want the game, but the E10 rating makes me wonder how the movie’s MPAA rating will turn out.
I think that has a lot to do with the “violent” aspect of the game. Characters are thrown around a lot and abuse of the Little Green Men is permited. It’s actually quite funny, but you never know how the ESRB sees it.
I have no comment about the movie’s MPAA rating though.
I’m expecting Toy Story 3 to be rated PG like Up was.
On the topic of the game, I’ll be getting this for PS3. It already looks like the best movie video game ever made, and the added bonus of playable Zurg just seals the deal!
Nah. Dreamworks usually goes for the PG due to crude humor and violence. This is likely going to be rated G.
