Another Woody’s News Roundup today….
First up, Animated News points out that o-meon has a great article discussing The Art of Cars by Suzanne Fitzgerald Wallis, Michael Wallis and the foreword by John Lasseter. The article says…
Over the years, John Lasseter (the creative head of Pixar) has cultivated many philosophies within Pixar’s culture to keep the Emeryville animation studio at the top if its game. One of these philosophies is “you can never do enough research.” Cars is no exception to this rule, as Lasseter and company set out on numerous road trips along Route 66, visiting many of the country’s famed race tracks to take in the sights, sounds, and feelings of the world they were about to create.
Author Michael Wallis took several Pixar crewmembers on a journey down Route 66, and many of the reference photographs they took are included in The Art of Cars.

Also, Cartoon Brew out this video… It is The Lady and the Lamp made by John Lasseter when he was at CalArts 1979.
No wonder John has made it to where he is today. This short film is VERY cool!
This video here is an InsideReel interview with John Lasseter about Cars.
And lastly, Derrick Clements from What Do You Know has 2 great posts on his blog.
Excerpt: To Infinity and Back Again – a funny article about the merger between Disney and Pixar
My review of Cars – A great review of Cars..
And if you are interested, Jim Hill seems to have a something against Pixar and John Lasseter and is desperately wanting them to fail.

I’ve heard about The Lady and the Lamp before, and I actually got to watch it. It was pretty blurry at times though. A lamp drinking. That’s hillarious.
Mistaking a gin bottle for a lightbulb? That is pure genius! 😀
It’s pretty awesome I think. I think John should make it fully into a 2D short film and include it on a Pixar movie DVD at some stage. It is so clever!
Blackbird is my fav Beatles song!
That was a gorgeous animation!
And what did I tell ya about Jim Hill!
Shine knows all! (and again I am not goign to look..) I am not supporting him with hits!
Anyone know Nancy Lasseter’s Maiden Name? Because it looks like they worked together on this film . . . we do know we both met at CalArts!
And by “we” I met “they.” Sorry about that typo.
