Cars has opened in 3,985 theatres across the U.S. today, according to Box Office Mojo. I will be providing Box Office Updates. However I still hold as an opinion, that how well a movie does at the box office doesn’t necissarly mean the film is good or bad. Animated News has more info.

The Ratatouille teaser trailer is now available for viewing online and in High Definition AND in english, exclusively at Apple.com. Its a cool teaser trailer and if you can work out who is voicing the characters in it, please leave let us know in the comments section below or send me an email at upcomingpixar@gmail.com, because I am dying to know, as are lots of other folks around the place!
UPDATE: It seems to be a general consensus from the information I have recived from you all that Patton Oswalt is playing Ratatouille and the waiter is none other then Brad Bird. You have also possiblities of Martin Landau as the father and David Schwimmer as the fat rat. Let’s hope that Disney/Pixar release a cast list soon! As well as a teaser site.

I left this piece of news till the very end because its very cool and Ron from Route 66 News deserves a big pat on the back for doing this. It’s really amazing and very cool what he has put together. Well done Ron!
Ron from R66N has put together the very extensive and pictureful, ‘A Route 66 guide to the “Cars” movie’.
It is very cool and provides inspirations for some of the characters as well as inspirations for some of the locations in Cars as well as some information if you are planning to motor west and travel on Route 66. Great job Ron!

Patton Oswalt as Ratatouille?
Yeah, definitely is Patton for Ratatouille….
Sounds like Martin Landau as the “dad”, but that is a 50/50 guess… no real idea.
The waiter sounds like it is none other than Mr. Brad Bird.
I can’t watch the trailer…I just see a big white screen with nothing. I guess I’ll just wait and see it in Cars. *shrugs*
As far as I can tell no one on the internet can tell who the “friend”‘s VA is. I know I’ve heard his voice before on television, and that he’s an actor mainly, not a professional voice actor.
I love that the Incredibles had Sarah Vowell, and now this has Patton Oswalt. LOVE IT. Ratatouille is voiced by someone who has said, “Battered, Chapped, P****.”

I was racking my brain trying to remember the name of the voice, and came to the same conclusion of Patton Oswalt.
As for the waiter, since this is an early teaser, which in Pixar tradition is made of a scene that isn’t even in the movie (and this is clearly the case here), whomever it is may not even be in the film.
Luxo Jr., I just saw Cars, and it was certainly worth the long wait. Everything you said about it in the review was true 100%. I did stay in the theater until the very end to see the clip. You were right… the credits were very funny. Especially Mack’s response to a certain voice after watching the films. You know what I’m talking about!
I did see the teaser trailer for Ratatouille and thought it was great. No idea who is voicing any of the characters though… I am looking forward to seeing it on June 29th next year.
One Man Band was absolutely hillarious. The audience, includind myself, roared through the whole short.
And to any one who is wondering why Pixar is releasing their films during the summer, it’s to benifit the films performance at the box office. Sounds like a new tradition!

Well It seems to be a general consensus now that Patton Oswalt is Ratatouille and Brad Bird is the waiter with other suggestions for Martin Landau or Christopher Walken as the father and a possibility of David Schwimmer as the rat friend. Thanks for all your input. I think Pixar should release a cast list very soon. Maybe they are still finalising it and that might be the trouble that they got into. No idea.
Bill: I am so very glad you loved Cars. I myself saw it again yesterday afternoon. I was so very excited. I was in a huge cinema with 5 other people. One Man Band was very cute. I loved it you can now buy it already on iTunes Music Store. Bring on Summer 2007!

Are you sure it is Oswalt Patton as Ratatouille. For Brad Bird it is definitely him.
As for the rest of the cast, here the list that was rumored a while ago:
Brad Garett, PAtrick Warburton, Harrison Ford, Kate Beckinsale, Jimmy Fallon, Martin Short and John ratzemberger. Any news on them???

I watched the trailer again, and the waiter is defintely Brad. The fat rat character is probably David Schwimmer, who played Ross on the television series; Friends.
If David is in the movie, it will be his second voice over role. He also played Melmin, the giraffe, in Madagascar.
Somehow, I don’t think it’s David Schwimmer.

At times the friend sounds like Emo Philips. It could be, if he is is using his normal voice rather than what is (hopefully) his stage voice.

Packed house was kinda distracting – I totally didn’t get to pay enough attention to the Rat trailer… I am gonna have to go see Cars again for that reason alone! Probably you’ll have a confirmed voice list by then…

According to Wikipedia, Patton Oswalt is playing Ratatouille, AND Jan Pinkava is now co-directing the film with Brad Bird.
I actually found the Jan Pinkava bit at IMDB.com. Also, http://www.comingsoon.net has an interview with John Ratzenberger, where they talk about his relationship with Pixar, Toy Story 3, and most importantly, his involvement with Ratatouille.
