As part of an upcoming compilation, fans of Cars Toons are set to experience two never-before-seen adventures starring Mater.
Preview Moon Mater and Mater Private Eye in the following stills found on the German-language Pixar Blog. An official synopsis for each short follows as well.
Moon Mater: "Mater is the first Tow Truck on the moon. His mission: Rescue the Impala XIII by giving him a tow and bringing him back to Earth. Lightning McQueen joins Mater and they are met with a hero’s welcome." Stills: One, Two
Mater Private Eye: "Mater is a private investigator working on a case of counterfeit tires when Tia rolls back into his life. She hires Mater to find her sister, Mia, who’s been car-napped. Mater searches for clues and closes in on a major crime scene. Lieutenant Lightning McQueen arrives just in time to help bring the criminals to justice." Stills: One, Two, Three

I like the clear reference to “Chinatown” with the bandage over Mater’s headlight!
Wow did looks like Mater really got fixed and cleaned up for his upcoming toons! Although, Moon Mater really should have looked more like a Moon Rover.
