Pixar story artist, Josh Cooley, recently spoke with the Omaha World-Herald as he prepares for a keynote that he’ll be conducting in the area this weekend.
On storyboarding: “I have the job I think I was born for… I get to draw cartoons every day.”
Cooley began his career straight out of school as a Pixar intern. Today, he can lay claim to significant contributions in perilous sequences like Remy’s brush with death in Ratatouille and Carl’s final confrontation with Muntz in Up. Josh is currently wrapping up work on Pixar’s next feature.
On Cars 2: “All I can say is I’m really excited about it… it will surprise people.”
If you’re in the Omaha, NE area and would like to hear Cooley speak, consider visiting the National Cartoonist’s Society’s regional conference this Friday and Saturday. Full details are now available.
For more from Cooley, check out the entire feature/interview over at the World-Herald; it’s definitely worth a read!
Related: After further consideration, I think it’s worth mentioning that Pixar veteran and Presto director, Doug Sweetland, has departed from the studio to pursue a directorial job at Sony Pictures Animation. We wish him the best of luck here at Upcoming Pixar.
