The Academy have announced the nominees for the 80th Academy Awards this year. And I’m sure you’re all eager to know what Ratatouille was nominated for:
- Best Animated Feature Film of the Year
- Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures (Original Score)
- Achievement in Sound Editing
- Achievement in Sound Mixing
- Original Screenplay
In the Best Animated Feature Film category, Ratatouille is up against who it should be, Persepolis and Surf’s Up. Click here to find out who Ratatouille is also up against in each category.
Congratulations to everyone at Pixar on the nominations. And I am pleased to see Michael Giacchino nominated for the score, as it was disappointing to see him miss out for The Incredibles which was a marvelous score. Fingers crossed everyone.

Honestly I don’t at all see how “Surf’s Up” deserves this nomination over “The Simpson’s Movie” (which was also very well received by critics). I sort of wish “Persepolis” wasn’t nominated. They had better not pull a “Pan’s Labyrinth” and comp Rat with a couple tech awards while giving the big cheese (in PL’s case, best foreign language) to another film, presumably “Persepolis.”
