CIO via Animated News reports that in it’s first week, Disney, has sold over 125,000 films through iTunes bringing in $1 million. Disney is currently the only studio on board with Apple, while most of the other studios have signed up onto Amazon’s Unbox.
Disney’s CEO, Robert Iger, stated that this is “just the beginning” and the company expects to reap $50 million in movies alone, over the next year, “at no marketing expense to us at all”.
Hopefully at this news some other studios will join on to the success, so the iTunes Store can offer a great selection of titles.
On the “Top Library Titles” within the iTunes Store, The Incredibles currently sits at No. 8 and One Man Band sits at No .1 in the “Top Short Films” list with For The Birds at No. 2, Boundin’ at No. 5 and Knick Knack at No. 8.
What a fantastic effort for Pixar!
And briefly in other news. For all you Aussies out there, as you are all probably aware, Finding Nemo will make its Australian Free-To-Air Television Premiere on Sunday (24/09/06) at 6:30pm on Seven.
