WOW. Well I think it’s safe to say we’re definitely gonna get two films in one year THIS time. I must say whatever the creative changes that are made, you gotta say Pixar does have guts for skipping a year.
So the story sucked that bad? Pixar has had clunkers they’ve savaged, but they couldn’t do it with this movie? Doesn’t give me much hope.
I still remember that Cars 2 got a year less of production time, and look what happened. Catmull is right, delays that are done for a good reason are mostly forgotten, but a bad film isn’t.
Noooooooooooooooooooo! 2014 sin Pixar :C
It must be in bad shape to have replaced both directors and the producer. And now Teddy Newton.
I applaud Pixar for the decision (though I personally HATE not having a Pixar film to look forward to next year.) The run from Toy Story to Up is truly phenomenal. Not once in that period, in my opinion, did Pixar release a film that wasn’t brimming with creativity, care, heart and originality. To me, a Pixar film release is a holiday. You do whatever you can to see that film on opening weekend. And you get to the theatre on 1 of the following weeknights to pick up things you may have missed the first time because the stories are layered and reward multiple viewings. Then you find a friend or relative who hasn’t seen it yet so you can go a 3rd time. I felt that way for ALL of their first 10 films. And for the most part, their 11th film, Toy Story 3. Cars 2 was super fun and creative, but lacked a certain something. Brave is a very good film, but felt a little rushed or un-finished. Monster University was a Pixar film in every way, but the fact it was a prequel limited the impact it could possibly make. Lasseter and Catumull, I’m assuming, are taking a step back and challenging themselves and the studio to get back to making super original and special films. That task gets harder every year with the seemingly increased top-notch writing and story-telling in film and TV, and the other animation studios upping their game.
NO!!!!!!!!!!! It is going to feel forever for a next Pixar movie. At least the Toy Story TV special is coming out!
Whilst it is going to be agony for us Pixar Fans to wait another year for a film, otherwise, I think it’s certainly for the better.
For every one of us fans, there’s someone who still loves Pixar movies if they’re not in love with the company itself. They’re not going to mind whether or not the movie’s are released later as they probably won’t even know they exist until the teasers come out, and when they do know about them, they’re sure to fall in love with them because that extra year will make them a whole lot better.
Wouldn’t you say? 🙂
WB better not screw up Dolphin Tale 2.
