I have to say I’m extremely excited for A Bug’s Life: The First Draft, an animated version of A Bug’s Life’s first storyboards!! The roundtables also sound awesome, it’ll be great to hear the filmmakers perspective after many years of release, in A Bug’s Life’s case 10! Speaking of, I think that the "Bug’s" release should have the 10th Anniversary mentioned somehwere and maybe the Monsters, Inc. cover would benefit from some Boo action, maybe a shadow…
Specifications: Monsters, Inc. will be available for $40.99 SRP and A Bug’s Life will be on sale for $39.99 SRP. The movies will be packaged with 2-discs with an added DisneyFile Digital Copy for iTunes or Windows Media Player. The feature film will be presented in 1080p, the best HD quality possible. You can pre-order them on Amazon now, click on the titles above for links.
The above image (not final, click to view larger) is courtesy of HDRoom, which reports that the Blu-ray discs will come packaged in an embossed foil O-sleeve and will include redeemable Up tickets, more details on that will be available later. It is also of note that the two beloved Pixar films will be released 10 days before Up, a great marketing tactic!
Keep it here for updates and reviews soon!

The ABL cover is nothing different, but I really like that Monsters, Inc. one. I don’t have a Blu-Ray drive and my Monsters, Inc. DVD is already choc-full of extras so I won’t rush out and get it, but to see any Pixar film on Blu-Ray quality is very exciting and would look terrific, I bet. That round table does sound good, though…
I’m really hoping they add a 10th Anniversary tag to the A Bug’s Life release, and I’m loving the Monsters, Inc. artwork (it’s from the Japanese poster) just how I imagined it!
When and if you get a Blu-ray player, you shouldn’t hesistate to get these re-releases, just look at how cool the minimal bonus features look!
It’s nice to see “A Bug’s Life”, in particular, receiving some recognition, especially in the Blu-Ray arena. I can only imagine how lush and enticing the film itself must look from a 1080 pi HD perspective….
I’m also digging the “Monsters, Inc.” cover design. However, and like martini stated, I would prefer to see a hint of Boo in there somewhere, as well.
And redeemable “Up” tickets? I don’t have a Blu-Ray player (yet), but I might just purchase one of these discs for the tickets alone.
Thanks for the information!
Yeah but they’re all meant to be peering in Boo’s room, you see. 😉
A 10th anniversary tag would be nice, too, like with the Toy Story DVD. Ok, I’ll be sure to add these to my collection when I get a Blu-Ray drive, Martin!
There is no such thing as 1080pi, there’s only 1080i (which is the second-best option) and 1080p (the best).
I assume we’re talking 1080p for these discs, at least as far as the main feature is concerned.
Over at ultimatedisney forums we’re having a debate on the number of discs.
Is it a THREE disc being: movie, bonus features & digital file or a TWO disc being: movie/bonus features & digital file? It seems the announcement can be concluded different ways.
Haha, sorry totoro, I’ll correct that for ya! 😛
I have a Blu-ray player but I’m not all that keen on screen resolutions!
yoho-The rumors are ABL is one disc plus Digital copy, Monsters is 2 discs plus digital copy, but the press release was a little misleading.
As I said, there’ll be more info soon, don’t worry. 😀
Rachel – Ah. I see. Well, if that’s so, they’ve got the wrong door. (heheh)
Totoro – Thanks for clearing that up!
