He talks with the two directors of Pixar’s oscar-nominated short film, One Man Band, directed by Mark Andrews and Andrew Jiminez about the fateful day that they were called into the office of Ed Catmull, president of Disney-Pixar Studios and an altogether powerful guy at the Emeryville animation house.

Andrews and Jimenez on their resulting panic:

Andrews: “Most of the time it’s drawing, drawing, drawing. Maybe a layout meeting or an art review or something. This time the schedule says: ‘Ed. 15 minutes.’ I’m thinking, what’s this? Am I going to get fired?”

Jimenez: “I walked into Mark’s office. ‘What’s this meeting with Ed?’ It’s kind of like getting called into the principal’s office.”

Andrews: “We’ve never had a meeting with Ed before. Why now? What’s this going to be? ‘Thanks for your time?’ “
