Andrew Stanton Confirms 'Finding Nemo' Sequel?

Finding Nemo News

While discussing the financial letdown of John Carter and its effect on him with LA Times (a worthwhile read), Andrew Stanton may have let it slip that he’s working on the rumored Finding Nemo follow-up.

Buzz surrounding the sequel was backed by multiple outlets back in July, but Disney and Pixar never confirmed nor denied the allegations. When questioned about the motivations behind Finding Nemo 2, however, Stanton himself finally responded to the rumors:

"What was immediately on the list was writing a second ‘Carter’ movie,’ he said. "When that went away, everything slid up. I know I’ll be accused by more sarcastic people that [‘Nemo 2’]‘s a reaction to ‘Carter’ not doing well, but only in its timing, but not in its conceit."

Sounds like the sequel is definitely in the pipeline for Pixar, presumably with Stanton at the helm. Whether you support the idea of a Nemo sequel or not, there’s not enough information about the project out right now to take a final stance for or against it.

Finding Nemo 2 could reach theaters sometime in 2016.
