Pixar movies have always been massive box office hits, and Brave looks to be no different. Brave‘s strong opening weekend, on par with most of Pixar’s successes, is a good sign for the film’s financial future.
With an estimated $25 million Friday gross from 4,164 theaters, Brave is on track to make around $70 million domestically this weekend. This easily puts the studio’s latest at the #1 spot at the box office, like every Pixar film before it.
It’s unclear, though, where Brave may go at this point; every Pixar film in the 2000s besides Ratatouille has passed the $60 million mark in their debut weekend. Will it reach the success of Up, or slightly underperform like WALL-E? A CinemaScore of "A" bodes well for the film, but only time will tell.
Brave is in cinemas now. Be sure to see it and share your thoughts!

UPDATE: More accurate estimates pin the film’s weekend domestic gross at approximately $66,739,000. An estimated $13.5 million international gross boosts Brave‘s current total earnings to approximately $80.2 million. This is the 4th greatest June opening weekend of all time, beating out the Cars movies and WALL-E, and should be the fifth highest-grossing Pixar opening weekend of all time!
