With The Incredibles now out on 4-disc Blu-ray, Brad Bird has come back into the spotlight.
After months of immersing himself in his latest project, Mission Impossible — Ghost Protocol, Entertainment Weekly wonders if Bird will ever make the plunge back to Pixar. Has the live-action bug bitten him for good; what happened to his disaster film 1906?
On his involvement with Pixar: "I have a really good relationship with Pixar… It’s the finest group of people you could ever want to work with. I hope to do other things with them, and I think they do with me."
On Mission Impossible: "It’s a big film and we had to move around a lot. We were doing a lot of physical effects live — we weren’t using special effects. And so it was physically a real challenge."
On 1906: "It’s all about getting the story to work, and the canvas is so big… The problem has always been scaling it and containing it in a movie-sized length. It’s really a movie that wants to be a miniseries… [but] the story demands to be told on a big screen. So we’re still working on it."

It’s funny how most of the comments in that article were about making an Incredibles 2.
There will be no Incredibles 2 for the forseeable future. Best bet would be 2018 or 19.
Nice to get an update from him; sounds like he’s quite the busy Bird (yuk yuk yuk)
