Pixarians who’ve been at the studio for over 10 years were awarded a beautiful Buzz Lightyear statuette yesterday as a show of gratitude for their long-time commitment.
There are a total of 205 awards, each with the employee’s name and "10 Years of Passion & Commitment" engraved on the base. The original sculpt was done by the magnificent Jerome Ranft and the final award reportedly weighs 14 pounds! To make it even sweeter, Pixarians who have shown commitment for 20 years or more were awarded a special Woody statuette. I wonder what the ceremony must’ve been like…
Enjoy pictures of the awards here, here and here.
Update: More pictures have become available! One of veteran technical director Eben Ostby holding the elusive 20 year Woody award and another of Pixar president/co-founder Ed Catmull being his humble self.
You can browse the photostream for more images from the event.
Congratulations to the recipients for their hard work over the years!

They look ridiculously cool. It’s hard to think 1999 was 10 years ago, and Brad Bird was about to come on board to make The Incredibles. I hope they do a 10th anniversary edition of The Iron Giant.
That’s so nice of Pixar. 🙂
Any news on the screening of “UP” at Wondercon?
Not just yet, check back soon!
