Very cool news, indeed! Typical Disney though: Let’s release the Cars 2-disc set on the Blu Ray disc only so that our customers will have to buy both products — that way, we’ll gain more money!
Typical to the max. But hey, what can ya’ do about it? At least we have the comfort of knowing that Cars will be released in a 2-disc version….
Thanks for the news, luxo jr.!
Damn, I mean thats cool and all but I want my 2 Disc version for my reg. player. Come on now! lol Pixar movies have all had 2 disc on release except this one I was pretty bumed.
I think this is nothing but double dipping on Disney’s part. We were told there was no 2 disc version on the horizon, and we bought the single disc version.
This blu ray thing is ridiculous, too. I’m irked, frankly.
“Surely Disney must know that not everyone has a $2000 HDTV with a $1000 Blu-Ray Player.”
You can get a Blu-Ray player for $500 by buying a PS3, which also happens to be an excellent gaming machine. You could then watch the Blu-Ray discs on a standard def TV, they will look just as good as the DVD version would. Then when you finally do get an HDTV, you will get to see the movie in hi-def without having to invest in another set of discs.
Also you can get HDTVs for under a $1000 now.
Well firstly, I live in Australia, so sorry for any confusion over price. 95% of LCD/Plasma TV’s are over the $1000AUD price, and a PS3 which was only just released over her the other day (and in my opinion is only a very expensive anchor), is about $990AUD, and then if you want to buy a Blu-Ray or HDDVD player thats about $1200+ there too. And there is no point I see in getting a blu-ray/hddvd player to watch blu-ray/hddvd’s (which are more expensive than dvd’s. About $45 for a new release compared to about $30 for a DVD new release), on a normal TV, when the whole damn point of them, is High Definition which you are not going to get on a normal TV!
I rest my case.
