Two very different examples of Italy’s representation in Cars 2 take the spotlight in the latest promos for the upcoming film.
In the image to the right, Lightning McQueen meets Luigi’s family on a stop to the Ferrari fanatic’s hometown. Fans met Uncle and Mama Topolino a couple of months ago as part of the Cars 2 character rollout.
Also fresh is a brand new clip from the film, titled Tokyo Party, which introduces viewers to another Italian character. Instead of being friendly like the Topolino’s, Francesco Bernoulli is just plain cocky:

Wow. That is just not very interesting.
How…. How does he drink from the wine glass? ._.
wow… sad day for pixar. This movie looks like the equivalent of a TV dinner, when we’re used to roasted quail and all the trimmings. Why would Pixar make a squeal of their weakest movie?
The consensus is that the film appears of low quality, and as more clips are released, I’m slowly succumbing to agreeing. It looks like a stale movie, more mature than Dreamworks but feels like it lacks the energy of the other movies. I don’t know, I’m just going to watch the film and assume a successful film
Why is everyone so negative on here? Every year people say that it’s gonna suck, and then they watch it and love it.
So far, the reviews are extremely negative. I bet it does ok at the box office, though.
I have not seen any reviews for it online. Where are you finding these reviews?
I’ve honestly been a supporter of every Pixar movie to date, even the first “Cars” along with some of the “odder” ones like wall-e. I believe that film-making is about good story telling, and I believe good-story telling is done by character-development rather than plot development. I thought Pixar believed the same thing (their movies have suggested such) but I am simply dumbfounded why such a disciplined studio would think that adding plot to a storyline of their weakest characters would fly as a sequal. Woody, and Buzz have enough meat to their characters for 20 movies. But McQueen and Mater are as simple as a pb&j. McQueen likes to win. Mater likes to joke. End of story.
From what I saw, I think everyone will be pretty surprised. I’ll have a full review in a week. Until then…
I saw it. I was surprised. Worst Pixar film ever. Assaultive, repetitive, and joyless.
