Stars lined up on the "racetrack" carpet for last night’s Hollywood premiere of Cars 2 at the El Capitan Theatre!
Images from the event are beginning to appear online here and there, but the host theatre itself did the best job (so far) in documenting the festivities. Check out ElCapitanThtre on Twitter for a nice overview in pictures.
On the other side of the country, this blogger was invited to see a special press screening of Cars 2. I’ll have a full review up soon, but in short, the film was an absolute step up from the original and I loved every minute of it.
Cars 2 has genuine emotion and peril, tons of laughs and a beautiful message, but don’t take it from me! Check out what the first couple of reviews from the mainstream press have to say. Variety (full review) called Cars 2 the "rare sequel that not only improves on but retroactively justifies its predecessor." The Hollywood Reporter’s (full review) bottom line reads, "Lightning and Mater mix it up… in yet another Pixar winner."
In my opinion, you’d be crazy to miss Cars 2— it’s just a ton of fast-paced fun. Did I mention the stunning Brave teaser is exclusively attached? Don’t even think about arriving late for this one…
Your thoughts?

I was totally prepared for the critics to take a massive dump on this movie like they did with the original Cars (which was admittedly not as strong as many of Pixar’s other films, but still a very good movie on all accounts), but these early reviews are giving me a glimmer of hope.
There’s still time for that to change, but I hope it doesn’t. Pixar hasn’t made a bad film, and I can’t imagine this being the exception.
I honestly was a little weary about Pixars reputation, even though I loved Toy story 3 it got just as many negative reveiws some people calling it Pixars worst film, then with the release of the Cars 2 teaser I got mixed feelings but this reveiw restores my faith
@ Most Recent Anonymous,
I’m not sure what reviews you’re reading, but Toy Story 3 was almost universally praised. In fact, it’s the only film I can think of in recent memory to receive a 99% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. In fact, out of 250 reviews counted, only three were negative.
Regardless, I’m happy that you have more faith in Cars 2, but I just wanted to clear up some of the facts.
I see you’re ignoring the majority of the reviews Cars 2 had gotten. 38% on Rotten Tomatoes doesn’t lie. Try harder next year Pixar and you’ll be right back into my good books again. I’ll just be pre-ordering Rango until you blow me away with Brave and Monsters 2

Meh. Why, Pixar? Why didja do it? Talk about the black sheep in the family. I’m not catching this one.
