The 9th Annual VES Awards, held by the Visual Effects Society, yielded one big win and a couple of disappointments.
First, for the bad news: Although Toy Story 3 was nominated in two categories, it did not emerge victorious last night. You win some, you lose some.
However, Pixar was able to secure a key prize. Teddy Newton’s celebrated film, Day & Night, took home the award for Outstanding Achievement in an Animated Short. Newton must be ecstatic!

Congratulations, Teddy Newton + the Pixar crew!

How to Train Your Dragon won three VES awards (in the three categories they were nominated in!)
I know it’s not a Pixar film, but it’s still a beautiful animated film and deserves to be mention here.
Anon— I didn’t mean to leave out HTTYD. To be honest, I was in a rush in writing this. It shows.
