DVD News: 'Finding Nemo' Blu-ray Dated + New Short Film Compilation!

Finding Nemo News Pixar Short Films Collection

It’s almost absurd how long-awaited the Blu-ray release of Pixar’s 2003 film, Finding Nemo, has become. Rumors of its arrival have dated back to 2007, and only recently has hope come in the form of an official teaser from Disney. According to Pixar Talk, an official release date has finally been confirmed: December 4, 2012!

Finding Nemo will finally be arriving in glorious 1080p with both Blu-ray/DVD and 3D Blu-ray/DVD/digital copy editions this holiday season. The 3D theatrical re-release of the movie will also be making its way into theatres on September 14, 2012; this likely contributed to the home release’s continuous delays. It’s exciting to know that we’ll finally be seeing one of Pixar’s most visually stunning works in high definition sooner rather than later!

A German DVD flyer has also prematurely revealed that a second volume of Pixar short films will be arriving on home video this November. We don’t have a full list of the shorts to be included on the DVD yet, but based on the preliminary cover art, most of Pixar’s post-2006 shorts such as Partly Cloudy, Day & Night, Dug’s Special Mission, and Hawaiian Vacation will surely be included. More details will likely be revealed soon, so check back for updates in the coming months.

UPDATE: Up will be arriving in Blu-ray 3D on December 4, as well! High Def Digest provides the news; although no additional details are known at this time, it’ll be exciting to experience Pixar’s first 3D film in that format again.
