Jean Flynn has to solve design problems the way the media have to cover celebrity trials. She can’t help herself. And she and her clients wouldn’t want to change that.

Flynn, founder and sole proprietor of Jean Flynn Interiors in Berkeley, has always had the urge to decorate and design, and five years ago when she finished working as production coordinator on “A Bug’s Life” at Pixar, she decided the time had come to be her own boss. It was time to — as perhaps they say in Berkeley — follow her bliss.

Not that she didn’t love working at Pixar. She did. Actually, she’s been doing design of one kind or another her entire life and loving all of it. And, all her life, people have wanted her to do it for them.
