Peach Makes a Splash in Disney Cruise Line's Virtual Porthole

Disney Finding Nemo News

One of the charms of "live" Disney entertainment is the prominence of character appearances, something Disney Cruise Line is certainly no stranger to. But a major complaint for the boats seems to be that the inner cabins, which lack a balcony, have lesser appeal in part because they have no view of the "big old blue."

Vacationers want the vistas and Disney wants to fill its inner rooms, so they’ve added what’s called a Virtual Porthole to the less desirable accomodations in their upcoming liner, the Disney Dream. These porthole-shaped LCD screens stream a live feed from cameras along the boat’s body, allowing guests to see… the sea.

Sorry about that last, bad pun. Anyway, what makes the Virtual Portholes especially magical are the random character appearances such as this one from Finding Nemo’s starfish, Peach:

So, what do you think? Would you choose an inner room on the Disney Dream, with its inclusion of Virtual Portholes, when it open in 2011?
