This year was very light on Pixar’s side at Comic-Con.
Sure, we got a lot of toy news and BOOM! Studios exclusives but not much from the film department. Today, John Lasseter came on stage with Hayao Miyazaki (both winners of SDCC’s Inkpot Award) to preview everything animated for the Disney Animation Panel. Representing Pixar this year from The Lamp was Lee Unkrich who talked up Toy Story 3. Here are a few quotes from the panel, moderated by Patton Oswalt (Remy):
"For Toy Story 3 it’s a totally different emotional core that this movie has. We’re really excited for it. "
~John Lasseter
"We’ve made a very emotional, but entertaining movie."
~Lee Unkrich
For Pixar, a preview of Toy Story 2 in 3D was shown for attendees, the opening sequence to be exact. Also shown was a "retro" short 2D clip based on Toy Story 3 called "Groovin’ with Ken" to introduce one of the Toy Story series’ new additions. As we’ve known, Michael Keaton (Chick Hicks) will be performing this voice and will have a more prominent role with Barbie. Strangely enough this announcement is being treated as news even though we reported it almost a year ago.
So although we didn’t get much from this year’s Comic-Con we can expect interviews to start popping up and a new trailer on the new Toy Story site very soon!
(Thanks goes out to everyone who Tweeted live from the event!)

Emotional? Cool!
I thought they’d be a lot more news about future Pixar releases at Comic-Con. Bigging up more prominent appearances for Barbie and Ken actually makes me less excited for Toy Story 3.
I like Michael Keaton (mainly because he’s from around Pittsburgh like me).
