What can I say, Pixar is a SIGGRAPH staple. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if some people went just to see the studio’s panels.
The rapidly approaching computer graphics convention will be held in Los Angeles from July 25th through the 29th. So what do the folks up in Emeryville (and Seattle?) have planned for the conference this year?
• Shared Perspectives in 2D and 3D, "Day & Night" – Pixar’s Michael Fu talks about the "innovative use of traditional 2D animation with 3D CGI and stereoscopic 3D" in Pixar’s latest short.
When/Where: July 27th from 3:45 PM to 5:15 PM in Room 515 AB
• Talking Trash: Technologies and Techniques for Simulating the Dump in "Toy Story 3" – David Ryu and Eric Froemling discuss the "methods and technologies developed to simulate large amounts of highly interactive, rigid, and squishy trash" for the highly anticipated sequel.
When/Where: July 27th from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM in Room 515 AB
Pixar’s General Manager, Jim Morris, is also expected to present a keynote speech to kick of the CGI convention. For more information on SIGGRAPH 2010 check out the official website.
Fun Observation: SIGGRAPH will be held in Vancouver next year. Pixar Canada tie-ins, anyone?
