OogieBoogie and John Lasseter before the Pixar: Trust the Process discussion

OogieBoogie from MiceChat.com has posted a very nice description of the happenings at the Sonoma Valley Film Festival, where John Lasseter and others from Pixar were in attendance.

OogieBoogie briefly notes the success of the Pixar: 20 Years of Animation special by Leslie Iwerks at Sonoma before moving onto the Pixar short films hosted by Andrew Jimenez. Andy also described the process of ‘animatics’ for the audience. Shorts shown at the festival inlcuded Andre and Wally B., Knick Knack, One Man Band and Lifted.

And about John Lasseter, OogieBoogie says…

I was fortunate enough to talk to him for a bit before the panel started, and I have to say that I have never met a nicer, more personable man. He asked me about the ‘Pixar Story’ film at the start of the day and what my thoughts were on it. He said that he was planning on seeing it, but he had to introduce ‘Toy Story’ at another theater and got sucked into it (nice to see I’m not the only one who gets sucked into that movie).

He goes on to describe the panel discussion, with Mark Andrews, Ronnie Del Carmen, Jason Katz and Jim Capobianco.

And lastly, OogieBoogie informs us that Jason Katz let slip that Toy Story 3 has been completed, however if it was in production phase or story phase is unknown. My guess is story phase.

And that’s the latest.

UPDATE:
SonomaNews also has an account of the Pixar happenings at Sonoma, specifically the tribute to John Lasseter.
