Pixar recently produced an online advertisement promoting the studio’s job opportunities for animators.
"You never forget the feeling of making your first Flip Book" reads the banner. I found the ad presently running on animation centric blog Cartoon Brew, a top-notch site that attracts professionals in the industry and fans alike.
Anyone who’s been on Pixar’s Jobs page knows that the studio is constantly hiring new talent. But does this ad signal more? Although Disney/Pixar marketing is known for creating flashy web ads to promote their films, personally, I haven’t seen the studio advertise their jobs like this in the past.
Could the banner be in response to heavier workloads that are surely coming up at the studio? I think that might be the case considering Brave and Monters, Inc. 2 will be released in the same year: 2012. Pixar Canada is also gearing up to produce Cars and Toy Story shorts very soon. Over thinking it, maybe?
Do you have what it takes to bring characters to life in Emeryville? If so, answer the call: "Animators wanted!"
Your thoughts?

To all who dream of doing this, just do it. Submit your resume. Go on, click the link and do it. Don’t be scared or embarassed or let your self doubt about being “good enough” stop you. Let PIXAR decide that. YOU are the only thing holding yourself back.
Pixar is going to 2 films a year, so yes, they’re hiring a lot more people. 🙂
I wonder if they will be hiring technical people too? I hope so!!!!!!! As soon as I have a good amount of work for a portfolio, I’m applying for the undergrad technical residency! 🙂
Yes, I think you’re right. It’s probably in response to feature developments in Emeryville rather than Pixar Canada though. Pixar Canada is only looking for a handful of animators and their current space isn’t large enough to hold a huge team. It’s also competition between all studios to hire the best talent.
ArtJoe- Exactly! Can’t agree with you more. 🙂
Anonymous- I don’t know if they’re doing 2 a year, I’d say 3 every 2 years. I was just noting that 2012 is going to be a very busy year,
Everyone- Wow, I’m really surprised at all the positive feedback this post has gotten. I was a little bit affraid there would be some sort of “this isn’t news, it’s just an ad” backlash. You guys are great. Thanks for reading. 🙂
I would so answer the call! If I were an animator that is.
I’d love to make a demo real
I’m going to try for it too. I’m only half way through Animation Mentor, but why not try?

I hope to work at pixar studios!
