Randy Newman Honored with Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame! [UPDATE]

Famed composer and long time Pixar collaborator, Randy Newman, is set to be recognized with a much deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!

For many, the name Randy Newman is synonymous with Toy Story and Pixar soundtracks in general. But the reality is that Newman’s singer/songwriter career has spanned over four decades with many successes along the way.

Throughout the years, he’s won Oscars, Golden Globes, Grammys and Annies, many of which were achieved through his relationship with Pixar. For example, Newman was finally able to secure an Academy Award for "If I Didn’t Have You" in the Best Original Song category after countless nominations. Many argue that recognition for the "You’ve Got a Friend in Me" composer and songwriter was long overdue.

Recently, Randy Newman was heard in the 2009 Walt Disney Animation Studios film The Princess and the Frog. In 2010, Randy Newman returns to Buzz and Woody’s universe for Toy Story 3! As far as Pixar goes, he’s populated the Toy Story series, A Bug’s Life, Monsters, Inc. and Cars with some of the most memorable songs and orchestral compositions in film.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will be unveiling the brand new star on June 2nd, 2010 as part of the motion picture category. For those of you planning on visiting Tinseltown in the coming days, don’t forget to stop by and take a look at 6667 Hollywood Boulevard!

Update: In the image to the right, Newman is seen with his newly presented star on Walk of Fame. John Lasseter was reportedly on hand to make a speech this morning. Image courtesy of the AFP.

Congratulations, Mr. Newman! Your thoughts?
