Producer's Guild to Honor Lasseter for Lifetime Achievement!

News

You know your studio is doing more than OK when the most well known creative leader in house is also a great executive.

This is Pixar’s case and the Producer’s Guild of America surely recognizes it. That’s why John Lasseter will be presented with the David O. Selznick Achievement Award in Motion Pictures as part of the guild’s January 24th, 2010 awards! The lifetime achievement award celebrates "uniquely talented producer[s] with the rare combination of technical ingenuity and creative vision." Describes the Pixar head perfectly…

So it’s not a surprise that he did win his first PGA in 2002, the first ever Vanguard to be specific. But this upcoming win is especially significant as a message to the world of animation, Lasseter is also the first animated film producer to be the recipient of the Selnick award! As the co-chairs of the PGA have said, "He’s a wonderful storyteller, consistently displaying extraordinary skill, humanity and grace", and that’s what makes a great producer, for animated films or otherwise.

Congratulations to Disney/Pixar’s Chief Creative Officer, seems like he’s going to continue allowing "magic" to happen at the Mouse and his Lamp!
